Delta State Police Command has begun investigations into the gruesome murder of Mrs. Glory  Ogbewi and her two-year- old child in Ime-Obi, Ika South Council of the state.

The Command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said, “we are not going to leave any stone unturned in bringing the killers to book”, adding that Agbor Police Station, where the incident was reported, is serious on the matter.

He assured that there would be no hiding place for perpetrators even though, no arrest has been made since the incident occurred.

The Guardian gathered that the mother of four children and her child were killed about a fortnight ago, after their assailants  attacked them with pestle,  while she was filtering cassava in the kitchen on the fateful day.

The husband of the deceased, Mr. Chuks Ogbewi, who is a patent medicine dealer in the community, expressed shock over the death of his wife and child.

Ogbewi, who hails from Aliren in Alisimie, said:  “I can’t believe my wife and child are dead. I see it as a dream, still hoping they would come alive.”

He said he was told different stories about their death as some claimed that she was carrying her child, who was about two years old when her attackers hit her with a pestle, while others said the killers attacked both of them.

Meanwhile, many residents have condemned the murder, saying, no matter the offence committed, the assailants should have spared their lives, and leave everything for God to handle. Some residents also described the killings as barbaric, while others prayed for the hands of the law to catch up with the perpetrators.
