Chairmen of local councils in Ogun State have been urged to see the monthly Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting as an official engagement that requires utmost attention, to improve welfare and infrastructural development at the grassroots.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape, who made the call at the January 2022 edition of the meeting, yesterday, said it was an avenue to equip the chairmen with information regarding the monthly allocations, to be able to answer questions that may arise to that effect.

He said the statutory allocation from the Federal Government might not be sufficient, urging them not to be discouraged but look inward to improve on their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

At the meeting, N3.587b from the federal allocation was shared among the 20 local councils of the state.
