Prominent Nigerians, including former Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State, ex-Secretary to the state government (SSG), Sarafadeen Alli and erstwhile Commissioner in Osun State, Muyiwa Ige, have paid their last respects to the late Ibadan-born billionaire, Chief Harry Akande.

Akande, who died on December 3 this year at the age of 77, made fortunes in the United States, and was one-time presidential aspirant on the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform.

During the funeral service yesterday at St. David’s Anglican Church, Kudeti, Ibadan, the sympathisers described the departed business mogul in superlative terms.
Ladoja labelled him a man of impact whom he had so much respect for.

He said: “Chief Harry Akande was a prominent Ibadan man. He belonged to Ibadan, Nigeria and Africa generally. He was a man of impact and philanthropy. Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria will miss him. I pray that God will take care of the family he left behind.”
