A middle-aged man, Festus James, who claimed to be a prophet has been arrested by Ondo State Police Command for allegedly raping a 22- year- old pregnant lady during church revival.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Funmilayo Odunlami, disclosed this yesterday, while parading some suspects at the command in Akure.

She said: “On the 13th November, 2021, one Festus James ‘m’ from Ibadan in Oyo State went to Agbabu village via Ore, claimed to be a Prophet and that the Holy Spirit directed him to have a three-day Holy Ghost Revival in a Church in the village.

“The next day, the prophet claimed to have seen a vision concerning the 22-year-old lady, who was eight months pregnant, and told her to wait behind after the programme.

“He took the pregnant lady into one of the rooms in the mission house under the guise of delivering her from an evil spirit and had carnal knowledge of her.”

Also, two men have been arrested in Yaba Division, Ondo City, for digging a grave inside Anglican Cathedral Church, Surulere, Oke-Aluko cemetery and  packing objects suspected to be human parts into a bag.

Odunlami said policemen attached to the Division went to the scene and found Lasisi Isiaka ‘m’, a 65- year- old man, who, on sighting the police, increased his footsteps and walked into a house opposite the cemetery with a sack bag.

“Police followed him, searched the sack and found a dry human skull in it. He could not give any cogent reasons for his action and the skull in his possession. He has been charged to court,” she added.

Similarly,  one Taiwo Lawal, who lives at No. 1Togbe Street, Agege Lagos State, was arrested in Okitipupa for falsely parading himself as a military personnel fully dressed in military woodland camouflage.

According to the police, the man claimed that after several failed attempts to join the military, he got frustrated and started parading himself as a member of the Armed Forces. The suspect, has also, by his deceit, lured a lady into marriage.

The PPRO added that policemen, on surveillance patrol duty along Benin/Lagos Road on November 12,  intercepted a Sienna bus with registration number UWN 505 ZL, driven by one Tochukwu Obasi.

She said a black sack containing 10 pairs of military camouflage trousers, eight military camouflage jackets, nine pairs of military knee cap protectors and nine pairs of military face cap were found in the vehicle.

“When asked how he got the uniforms, he claimed he was just a driver and that the sack was dropped for him at the park in Lagos to deliver it to an unknown person in Anambra State. Investigation is ongoing to unravel the unknown persons that gave the uniforms to him and the recipients.

“All the suspects, alongside two others that were nabbed for burglary and theft of jewelries in Akure, would be adequately charged to court for prosecution at the conclusion of their investigations,” the PRO added.
