Raven Bank Wins BAFI Awards 2022 Neobank of the Year

Raven Bank, the “People’s Bank of Africa”, has emerged the 2022 Neobank of the Year award at the Business & Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.

Raven Bank, the “People’s Bank of Africa”, has emerged the 2022 Neobank of the Year award at the Business & Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.

Listed as a nominee in the keenly contested category that featured outstanding competitors jostling for the number one spot as Neobank of the Year, Raven’s win of this coveted award is a well-deserved recognition of its contributions to revolutionising banking through technology in the past year.

Every year Business Day celebrates the achievements of remarkable players in the financial services industry through the BAFI Awards. Backed by BusinessDay’s Research and Intelligence Unit, the BAFI Awards is a yearly recognition of the achievements of key figures (businesses & individuals) across several categories in the financial industry, including Fintech, banking, insurance, investments, pension funds and other financial services.

These key leaders are celebrated in a glamorous award ceremony featuring fine dining and music and attended by the crème de la crème of the Nigerian banking and finance sector.

The 2022 BAFI Awards held on Saturday, 5th November 2022, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, and was attended by the best of the best.

Receiving the award for Neobank of the year on behalf of Raven Bank were Chidinma Onukogu, CFO of Raven Bank, Jude Okorharen, CMO of Raven Bank and Favour Ejiroghene Adaka, Team Lead, Raven Bank customer support representatives.

In her acceptance speech, Raven Bank’s CFO, Chidinma, thanked the organisers of the event as well as the management and staff of Raven Bank. She also extended her appreciation to the bank’s ardent customers saying, “Thank you to our four hundred and fifty thousand customers across Africa who have trusted us over the last year to provide fast and reliable banking to them.”

“We want to say that we are here to take over this place.”

Commenting on the feat, Raven Bank CEO Uchenna Nnodim added, “The award is a recognition of our commitment to building a financial ecosystem where Africans can access fast and convenient financial services, and we are just getting started. This award is mostly a chip on our shoulders to keep doing what we are doing, building innovative tools, and financial services to better the lives of our people.“

“Raven is a community-focused bank, so this award is mostly going to fuel our continued effort to build more tools, innovate new solutions and keep thinking about the people whilst we’re building.

Noting that this is just the start of more to come, he continued, “We have a lot of products in the roadmap still coming, we are not relenting, the plan is that we get to roll out some of these products for our customers.

“We’ll keep expanding our reach beyond Nigeria to other parts of Africa and the rest of the world.”
