Moniepoint Microfinance Bank has won the SME Microfinance Bank of the Year award for the third consecutive year at the 14th BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.
Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint Inc., Tosin Eniolorunda, also won the SME Finance Transformation Leader of the Year award at the ceremony.
The recognition follows a year of expansion for the bank, which, according to its 2025 year in review, disbursed more than N1 trillion in credits to thousands of small businesses.
The bank said businesses that accessed the credit recorded an average transaction value growth of more than 36 per cent.
The bank also reported serving more than six million active businesses and powering eight in every 10 in-person payments in Nigeria.
In 2025, it said it processed N412 trillion in transaction value across more than 14 billion transactions.
Speaking on the award, Senior Vice President, Distribution Network Sales at Moniepoint, Ezekiel Sanni, who represented Eniolorunda at the event, said the recognition reinforced the bank’s commitment to supporting small businesses.
“We are honoured to be named SME Microfinance Bank of the Year by BusinessDay. Small businesses are the backbone of the Nigerian economy, and this award strengthens our commitment to give them the credit, payments and tools they need to scale,” Sanni said.
He added that the bank would continue expanding access to credit and investing in the network serving small businesses across the country.
On Eniolorunda’s recognition, Sanni said the SME Finance Transformation Leader award reflected the direction he had set for Moniepoint in making quality financial services accessible to small businesses.
He said the company was working towards a financial system in which small businesses across the country could access the services they needed to grow.
The BAFI recognition adds to other honours received by Moniepoint MFB, including Best Financial Institution in Women Empowerment from the Association of Professional Women Bankers and Marketing Campaign of the Year (Brand) at the Creative Impact Institute Awards.
