Fresh crisis is looming in some communities in Cross River as the people of Ebom community have protested the kidnap of one of their kinsmen, Obeten Ube, who was attacked in his farm and whisked away on Thursday to an unknown destination by armed men from Usumutong.

Also, one Diana Bassey was assaulted in her farm but managed to escape being whisked away. It would be recalled that the two communities from Abi local government area of the state have been fighting over land issues for decades, which has claimed lives and properties over the years.

The town council chairman of Ebom community who spoke to newsmen yesterday, Sunday Obeten said the incident occurred on Thursday morning when people were in their farms working. “We are hearing the abducted man was tortured before he was taken away and we have not heard from him till now. We don’t know if he is dead or alive.”
