Residents flee as bandits invade Niger communities, rustle cattle

Bandits have surrounded Rijau town and neighbouring communities in Rijau council area of Niger State and rustled cattle.

A reliable source from the area said the hoodlums invaded the communities within Mariga and Rijau local government areas, riding on no fewer than 200 motorcycles, with sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.

The assailants, who moved from one community to the other gathering cows, allegedly came from Zamfara end.

At press time, there was no official statement from the state government and other security agencies, including the police command.
