Resignation rumour: Handiwork of mischief makers, says Bayelsa SSG

Secretary to State Government (SSG) in Bayelsa State, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff and Governor Seriake Dickson

The Secretary to State Government (SSG) in Bayelsa State, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff, has described as malicious, wicked and blatant falsehood, the purported rumour of his resignation, saying it was the handiwork of the opposition and mischief-makers.

A close ally of Governor Dickson, the SSG was reported to have handed his resignation letter to the Acting Governor, Real Admiral John Jonah (rtd), on Wednesday.

But reacting to his purported resignation, yesterday, a visibly angry Dokubo-Spiff said he remains loyal to his political godfather and mentor, Dickson, and has never contemplated leaving his government.

He alleged that the rumour was the handiwork of the opposition and mischief-makers who never wish the Ijaw nation well, adding that Dickson remains the only person to take Ijaw nation out of its present political and economic doldrums.

Dokubo-Spiff, a legal practitioner, was the state’s acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before his appointment. The rumour had it that Jonah, who prevailed on him to allow the governor to return from his annual leave, rejected his resignation.
