With six flyovers being constructed in Rivers State and one already commissioned, the State Executive Council yesterday approved contracts for the construction of two additional flyovers in Port Harcourt City at N12.4b, bringing the number of overhead bridges to eight.

A statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, Special Assistant on Media to Governor Nyesom Wike, revealed that an 800 meter bridge would be on the intersection of Olu-Obasanjo Road and Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway at Waterlines Junction.

He said another 1km bridge would be constructed at the intersection of Olu-Obasanjo and Ikwerre Road up to Azikiwe Street, adding that the State Executive Council approved the projects during its meeting presided over by Governor Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt.

Commissioner for Works, Elloka Tasie-Amadi who briefed journalists after the meeting, said the approval followed two memos the ministry presented to the council on the need for the flyovers.
