Rivers State House of Assembly has approved request by Governor Nyesom Wike to sell the state’s gas turbine generator unit and accessories allegedly abandoned in the Netherlands.
In a letter to the House, read by Speaker Ikunyi Awaji-Ibani, the governor reminded the lawmakers that the state government in 2012 bought the generating unit from a firm known as Alstom Switzerland, now called General Electric.
Wike said the unit was allegedly abandoned at the Verbrugge Zeeland seaport terminal at the Netherlands
The House also passed the 2022/2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
Total revenue projection in the document is over N483 billion, with total expenditure projected at the same amount. Recurrent expenditure is projected at over N140 billion, while capital expenditure projection is over N314 billion.
The House also approved Wike’s request for access to funds earlier approved for financing additional flyovers in the state.
