Rivers community gets electricity years after

Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) has restored electricity to Komkom community in the Oyigbo Council of Rivers State, after two years of outage.
 
PHED commissioned the rehabilitated Komkom 33 KVA Feeder Station, yesterday, power the community and neighbouring communities. 

The Guardian gathered that the sub-station is capable of supplying electricity from the Afam Power Station to Komkom and Umuebule in Etche Council.

While commissioning the project, yesterday, the Managing Director and  Chief Executive Officer of PHED, Dr. Benson Uwheru, said the company was happy customers in the area now enjoy electricity.

Represented by the Regional Head, PHED Beta 2, Mr. Kenneth Idemudia, Uwheru urged the community to protect the facilities, pay their bills to enjoy uninterrupted supply.

He noted that the journey was not easy but noted that the firm was resolute about achieving the feat.

“Indeed, it is our pleasure to have this community return to our network again because we understand the yearnings of our customers in this community. 

“It is for this reason that PHED solely decided to fund this project and ensure that electric power supply is restored to Komkom.”

He urged the people  to take  ownership of electrical infrastructure in their  area and avoid sabotage, meter by-passing, vandalism, assault, and other illegalities that negate cordial conversations 

Chairman of Oyigbo Council, Okechukwu Nworgu, commended PHED for restoring power to the area and urged them to ensure steady supply. 

A representative of the community, Chief Precious Enworuka, said the community had demonstrated great goodwill to the firm and deserves improved power supply from PHED.
