Rivers PDP chiefs hail as Switch-On Foundation empowers residents
Recipients and observers have greeted provision of empowerment kits and supports for men resident in Opobo/Nkoro Council, Rivers State by Switch-On Foundation team with excitement as it creates a new lease of life for them.
Admonishing beneficiaries at the event in Opobo town, the headquarters of the council, the member representing Opobo/Nkoro and Andoni Federal Constituency, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, said it was important for them to be committed to using the opportunity to improve their economic fortunes.
He said such commitment and the positive impact on their its would encourage the organisers to do more in empowering rural people.
The lawmaker warned them against indolence and temptation to sell off the equipment provided as such will amount to not being serious to change their economic status.
Abiante assured the Foundation of their readiness to partner with the nonprofit organisation to empower more rural people to improve the rural economy.
Deputy Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie advised beneficiaries not to allow the good intentions of the NGO to be in vain, by making adequate use of the items provided while those receiving training should persevere to acquire skills registered for.
Chairman, Planning and Implementation Committee of the 2022 Switch-On Foundation empowerment programme, Sotonye Toby Fulton, said it was in response to the promise made during women empowerment in October 2021 to also provide for the men.
Mr. Itia Otabor, a business strategist, tasked beneficiaries on dedication, discipline, diligence and devotion as the anchors for them to accomplish their goal of economic sustainability with whatever they are empowered with.
