
Bello encouraged the new club, which was just nine months old and urged both the president of the club and its members to align with foremost functional clubs with a view to receiving the District Governor early during the annual routine District Governor’s visit.
“My duty is to inspire you as a club to do more, do knowledge sharing and to tell you that the early you host the District Governor, the better for you because his motivation and encouragement coupled with the knowledge he shares would make you to do better in your Rotary year,” he said.
He reminded the club of the four elements of an effective club, which include admitting and retaining new members, execution of service projects beneficial to the community, developing leadership skill in members and supporting the Rotary Foundation.
Amankwe expressed the importance of acquainting new members with the knowledge of Rotary, stir up their interest to serve with their time, talent and money in line with the ideals of Rotary as a humanitarian organisation.
“Being a new club, we do not have a mega project, but have been able to carry out projects under the Rotary International’s seven areas of focus.
“Under water and sanitation, we donated two giant dustbins to our host, Ikeja Club which were received by the President of the Club, Ayodeji Randle.
“We also did polio walk and to curb the spread of COVID-19, we distributed face masks while we also ran COVID-19 tests and encouraged members on the importance of taking the vaccine,” she said.
President Amankwe appreciated Bello’s impartation of knowledge on how to move the Club forward which she said would henceforth reflect in their activities.
She promised that the club would continue to reach out to the members of the community in the seven areas of focus and also continue to encourage incoming leaders.
Randle appreciated the gifts and promised that the club would continue to partner with Rotary as much as possible in the areas Ikeja club’s assistance is needed.
“We appreciate the contributions of Rotary to the society, members of the community as well as your humanitarian spirit and we assure you that in any area we can be of assistance, we would not hesitate to do so. We promise to be your partner in progress,” Randle said.
Immediate Past President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Rotarian Taiwo David, appreciated the District Governor’s visit and promised that the mother club, Rotary Club of Isolo would continue to support the new club and nurture it to maturity.
The club also presented two wheel chairs to be donated at the Rotary District Office, GRA, Ikeja and also inducted a new member during the District Governor’s visit.
