Rowe Park agog as maiden Tennista Foundation tourney begins

The Tennista Foundation Open Junior Tournament officially served off, yesterday, at the Rowe Park Tennis Court in Yaba, Lagos, with 55 players jostling for honours.

The tournament, which is part of the foundation’s commitment to grassroots tennis development and youth empowerment, will see both boys and girls fighting for laurels with a team of nine certified officials, ensuring a fair and competitive atmosphere throughout the event.

Officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission and the Lagos State Tennis Association were present at the opening ceremony, where they expressed their support for the initiative and commended Tennista Foundation for investing in the future of youths through sport.

The Tennista Foundation said the event is a demonstration of their unwavering belief in the power of sport, not only to transform lives, but also to shape resilient, focused, and confident leaders of tomorrow.

“At Tennista Foundation, we are committed to creating safe and empowering spaces for young people to dream big, develop grit, and discover the greatness within them,” said President, Tennista Foundation, Michael Nwoseh.

Nwoseh added: “Through tennis, we teach discipline, determination, and the value of fair play — values that go far beyond the court.”
The tournament will run through April 19, 2025, with exciting matches and a prize presentation ceremony to round off the event.
