Sapele Council, others battle for quarterfinal tickets
Sapele Council Area is one of the 10 centres of attraction today in the on-going Zenith Bank/Delta Principals Cup when teams begin to fight for places in the quarterfinals of the competition.
After the first round matches decided on Monday in various centres, some schools have taken the big step towards the last eight stage of the developmental tournament aimed at helping talented footballers attain their potential from tender age.
Obule Integrated School defeated Ogeh Ijoh Grammar School 3-0 in a match that saw Gift Edirin scoring twice in the 42nd and 60th minutes.
Omom opened scoring in the 25th minute for the representatives of Sapele Local Government who now needs one win in their match today to book a quarterfinal place.
In another match, Aniocha North defeated Ika North East representatives 2-1 to also keep their last eight ticket alive. Ukwuani defeated Isoko South 1-0, Isoko North beat Patani also 1-0, while Warri South recorded the same slim victory over Uwvie.
Ndokwa West and Bomadi had a goalless draw, just as Ughelli North and Burutu ended their encounter 1-1.
