The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has dangled the central senatorial candidature to Senator Saliu Mustapha for the 2027 general elections.

 

Mustapha is a serving Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District. He was unable to secure either the return to the senate or the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidacy.

 

The Guardian Newspaper gathered that the senator is one of the aggrieved G-15 politicians begrudging Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, after the APC primaries.

 

Our reporter reliably learnt that the PDP agreed on the slot for sen. Mustapha at the recent meeting between the G-15 with the former governor Bukola Saraki.

 

According to the information available to The Guardian Newspaper, other aggrieved G-15 members were equally asked to submit seven names for the 2027 state assembly contest.

 

Our source confided that Mustapha’s name was agreed on by other members and stakeholders in the G-15 struggle.

 

Recall that the G-15, now adopting o to ge political struggle policy to vent its anger on the circumstances that berthed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Eng Yakubu Danladi-Salihu.

 

The members and their sympathisers faulted the process of his emergence, blamed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his “unpopular support” and high handedness.

 

Meanwhile, our reporter gathered that the former ally of the former senate president, Hon. Moshood Mustapha (MM) was initially touted for the Kwara Central senatorial slot before the PDP threw its backing on sen. Mustapha.

 

The PDP loyalists blamed MM for abandoning Saraki’s dynasty for the APC only to return when crisis broke between him and Governor AbdulRazaq.

 

It was, according to our source, that the party couldn’t no longer tolate his allegiance which they described as “doubtful.”

 

Speaking, the state PDP publicity secretary, Olusegun Adewara said: “for now, we don’t have senatorial candidate for the Central District,” adding that the room is still open for new members to join the party.
