Scores of Kwara APC members defect to PDP in Offa

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

Hundreds of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s political ward have reportedly declared support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kwara State.

Also, the APC Kwara South Senator, Lola Ashiru, said he has collapsed his Offa Local Council Area structure in Shawo Central Ward for the PDP, moving along with many others in the council yesterday.

Meanwhile, The Guardian learnt in Ilorin that the feud between Governor AbdulRahmanAbdulRazaq and the former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, dated back to the supremacy battle between their fathers, AbdulGaniyuAbdulRazaq and the former Senate leader, Olusaola Saraki, respectively, in the 1980s.

One of the sources, Salman Jawondo, SAN, recalled that the duo’s disposition toward life and humanity placed the late Saraki ahead of the late AbdulRazaq.

Jawondo told The Guardian that the situation has affected the acceptability of Governor AbdulRahman and Saraki, saying the former had carried their families’ old rivalry into governance before he became governor in 2019.

Leading the APC defectors, Ezekiel Adepoju said they were convinced by the leadership of former Senate President and the PDP leader, Dr Bukola Saraki, and that the PDP provides a better platform for the political future of Offa and Kwara State.
