A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening at a popular eatery in Rumukrushi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, resulting in the death of a security guard.

Ifeanyi Ani, a 35-year-old father of three from Enugu State, was allegedly beaten to death by a customer at the eatery.

According to eyewitnesses, the altercation began when Ani approached the customer’s car to request that he turn off his headlights.

The customer, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly punched Ani repeatedly, leading to his collapse and eventual death.

The management of the eatery apprehended the customer and handed him over to the Mini-Okoro Police Division.

“We condemn this senseless act of violence and urge the authorities to ensure that justice is served,” said Prince Wiro, a human rights advocate.

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice,” said SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command.
