The Katsina State Government has set up a commission of inquiry in an effort to recover funds and property allegedly stolen under the regime of the former governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema from 2011 to 2015.

The commission had already invited the former Commissioner of Finance under Shema, Lawan Jari and directed a substituted service on him.

Chairman of the Commission, Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Suraj, gave the directive upon the receipt of a memo written by Katsina State Government by the commission.

“Former governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema should be served with the memo through substituted service by posting notice at his personal residence in both Katsina municipal and Dutsinma town,” he said.

He, therefore, orderded the commission also to publish the notice in two national dailies.

Shema and his finance commissioner, Lawal Jari, along side 30 others, were mentioned as respondents on the memo which accused them of allegedly mismanaging N10 billion Subsidy Re-investment Programme (SURE-P) funds.

The directive for substituted service to Shema and Jari was put in place due to the inability to serve the duo earlier whereas at the same time many were served effectively.
