Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday departed Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The summit, holding at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Freetown, will bring together West African leaders to deliberate on critical regional issues, adopt key policy decisions, and strengthen cooperation on peace, security, democratic governance, economic growth, and regional integration.

Shettima is expected to join fellow Heads of State and Government, senior government officials, and regional stakeholders at the high-level meeting, which forms part of ECOWAS‘ statutory mid-year engagements.

The session will review developments across the sub-region and chart a common course on priority areas, including security, trade, infrastructure, economic integration, and sustainable development.

The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja at the conclusion of the summit.
