Shun sentiments, vote credible candidates, Obiozor urges Ndigbo
President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, has called on Ndigbo to close ranks, participate actively and vote for credible leaders in the 2023 general elections.
Obiozor gave the charge at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the organisation held in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Tuesday.
The don, who described active participation in the election as an obligation to Ndigbo, urged them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and ensure they do not only vote for good candidates but protect their votes as well.
He said: “We can only succeed as a people when we are determined to achieve a common purpose, and the time is now. Igbo have a date with destiny in 2023, and I am sure history will vindicate us.”
Obiozor, who lamented the funding gap against the organisation’s activities, which, according to him, impeded the quick execution of projects, as well as the attainment of set goals, implored stakeholders in the Igbo project to rally around the organisation, and assist it to attain critical milestones for Igbo nation and Nigeria.
