Six schools emerge for 2026 KWIRS tax club Competition final

Six Secondary schools across the three Kwara senatorial zones have emerged for this year’s state Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) Tax Club Quiz Competition final.

The Competition, according to a statement from the KWIRS, is in furtherance to the state’s vision to raise tax-compliant citizens and promote tax education among younger generation.

According to the the Head, Corporate Affairs Department of KWIRS, Funmilola Oguntunbi, the annual event is in collaboration with the state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

She said that the semi-final of the competition was held on Wednesday via an online Computer Based Test (CBT), involving twelve schools that participated.

Oguntunbi said the exercise was conducted with appropriate back-end monitoring by the KWIRS Tax Club Advocacy Committee with the representative of the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Aina Bose Eunice.

At the end of the semi-final exercise, Oro Grammar School, Oro and Ansar-u-deen College, Offa (Kwara South); Government Secondary School, Lafiagi and Government Secondary School, Ilesha Baruba (Kwara North); and St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin, and Ebenezer High School, Ilorin (Kwara Central) emerged for final.

The finalists are to compete for the grand prize of N2.5 million in Ilorin on Wednesday, 4th November, 2026.

The annual Club Quiz Competition is to deepen tax awareness among secondary school students and foster a culture of voluntary tax compliance among the younger generation.
