
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu Friday evening paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake in his office.
The host Minister while welcoming Edu lauded her efforts in restructuring the social safety programmes alongside efforts to alleviate poverty through the revamped Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT), among others.
Throwing light on his vision for the Solid Minerals Ministry, Alake assured his counterpart that plans to reposition the mining sector would translate to massive jobs in no distant future and go a long way in alleviating poverty in the country.
Edu, in her remarks, lauded the minister for hitting the ground running by laying a solid foundation for the development of solid minerals with the conceptualisation of a seven-point transformative agenda for the ministry.
She made a case for collaboration with her ministry to ensure disadvantaged youth and women could be beneficiaries of the economic empowerment in the mining sector.
Alake in response assured his guest of his commitment to partnership with the Humanitarian Affairs ministry, stating that all hands must be on deck to provide succour for Nigerians and alleviate poverty through productive jobs and opportunities in the mining sector.
