South Africa high commissioner denies attacks on Nigerians, foreigners

South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, has denied reports of Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreign nationals in his country. The commissioner denied the claims at a news conference with Nigeria’s foreign affairs minister Geoffery Onyeama in Abuja. South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, has denied reports of Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreign nationals in his country.

The commissioner denied the claims at a news conference with Nigeria’s foreign affairs minister Geoffery Onyeama in Abuja.

Monroe said the attacks in South Africa were not xenophobic and targetted at Nigerians.

He described the attacks as ‘sporadic acts of violence’ adding that businesses belonging to other South Africans were also affected in the violence.
