South East govs, leaders to meet Buhari over infrastructure
South East governors and leaders will, on Thursday, meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the parlous state of infrastructure in the zone.
The resolution followed an emergency meeting yesterday in Enugu where the stakeholders expressed displeasure over the dwindling economic fortunes of the region on account of poor roads and other decrepit amenities.
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, who doubles as chairman of the South East Governors Forum, told reporters after the meeting that lasted for over five hours that, “we have resolved to meet President (Muhammadu) Buhari on the challenges of the South East zone.”
The event was attended by Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, his Abia counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ohanaeze President General, Chief Nnia Nwodo, members of the National Assembly, religious leaders and chieftains of industry.
