The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the growing political realignment in the South East as a significant step toward national unity and progress, reflecting the party’s widening appeal across Nigeria.
In a statement on Wednesday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the trend underscores the influence of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which promotes fairness, opportunity, and inclusiveness.
Oladejo said the South East’s growing alignment with the APC signifies a strategic move to join the national mainstream, ensuring the region has a voice “at the table where decisions are made — not outside, where complaints echo without consequence.”
He described the shift as “politics of maturity and national vision,” calling it a departure from grievance-driven politics and an embrace of shared destiny.
“For decades, political sentiment and emotional posturing have kept the South East on the fringes of national power. That era is ending,” Oladejo said.
“The new alignment with the APC marks a forward-looking recognition that meaningful participation in governance — not sterile opposition — is the true path to regional and national advancement.”
He said President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is fostering a sense of belonging among Nigerians from all regions, anchored on fairness and opportunity.
Oladejo also criticised opposition parties, describing them as “divided, disoriented, and devoid of purpose.”
“The PDP, once Africa’s largest party, is now a relic of its old self — leaderless, rudderless, and adrift,” he said. “The Labour Party, whose fleeting popularity was built on social media emotion rather than structure or strategy, has lost both momentum and direction.”
He added that the APC remains the only credible platform for national stability, progress, and development, expressing confidence that the 2027 elections would further consolidate the party’s dominance.
“As the South East and other regions strengthen their handshake with the national leadership, the dream of one Nigeria anchored on equity and inclusion is being realised,” Oladejo stated.
