St. Kitts and Nevis citizens residing across Africa can now complete their biometric enrolment in Lagos, Nigeria, following the opening of the country’s first-ever Biometric Centre on August 1, 2026.

The new facility provides a more convenient regional option for citizens who previously had to undertake international travel to complete their biometric requirements.

The Lagos centre joins a growing global network that includes St. Kitts, London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Toronto, Ottawa, the Washington D.C. area, Jeddah and Singapore.

St. Kitts and Nevis kick-started the passport modernisation programme in April this year. The initiative upgraded the St. Kitts and Nevis passport to the same biometric security standard used across the European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom.

As the birthplace of citizenship by investment, the Federation continues to set the benchmark for the industry it created.

Speaking at the programme’s official launch, H.E. Calvin St. Juste, Chairman of the Citizenship Unit, said the initiative “aligns our passports with those of major nations” emphasising that it has been designed around worldwide accessibility and full Government control of all biometric data.

What citizens need to know

All citizens who obtained citizenship through the Citizenship Programme, including dependants and children, must complete biometric enrolment by 31 July 2027.

All the St. Kitts and Nevis passports issued before 14 April 2026 remain valid for travel until that date, after which only biometric-enabled passports will be accepted. The programme does not affect the citizenship status in any way, it is a passport modernisation measure designed to protect citizens and reinforce the integrity of the travel document.

Enrolment is completed exclusively through the official Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Biometric Enrolment Platform, with the support of an Authorised Agent.

Appointments take 15 to 30 minutes, during which fingerprints, a digital facial image and a digital signature are collected. Data is captured once, remains valid for the lifetime of the passport, and is stored in encrypted systems in full compliance with ICAO requirements and international data protection standards.

All-inclusive fees stand at US$2,500 for the main adult applicant, US$2,000 for a second adult and US$1,300 for children under 16. Citizens who complete enrolment between 20 July and 31 December 2026 benefit from a 10% reduction on government biometric fees, with standard fees resuming from 1 January 2027.

For new applicants, biometric enrolment is now a mandatory component of every citizenship application, bookable once an application reaches the Approval in Principle stage.
