Stakeholders in Yewa North Local Council of Ogun State have applauded President Bola Tinubu for signing the amended Electoral Act into law, describing the development as a significant milestone in strengthening internal party democracy and deepening Nigeria’s electoral process.
Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Isiaq Salako, described the reform as “a landmark achievement that restores power to the grassroots.”
He noted that it would promote transparency, fairness, and accountability within political parties.
Elder statesmen, including Olu Agemo, Bisiriyu Popoola, and former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, said that the removal of the delegate system from the Act would significantly reduce manipulation and imposition of candidates.
However, the stakeholders have lauded the ongoing grassroots infrastructure drive of Governor Dapo Abiodun across Ogun State.
