The Chairmanship and Councillorship elections held across Kogi State on Saturday witnessed a commendable display of civic responsibility and peaceful conduct in Mopamuro Local Government Area, as political stakeholders and residents participated in the exercise.

The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, cast his vote at Unit 004, Takete Ide/Otafun Ward 07, in Mopamuro Local Government Area. After voting, the Commissioner commended the conduct of the elections, describing the process as free, fair and transparent.

Fanwo also applauded the people of the ward for their consistent enthusiasm in exercising their democratic rights, noting that their willingness to come out and vote demonstrated their commitment to grassroots democracy and the development of their communities.

The Councillorship candidate for Ward 07, Hon. Olukotun Covenant Eyiwumi, also cast her vote and expressed appreciation to the good people of the ward for their support and participation in the electoral process. She equally acknowledged the leadership of Ward 07 and Mopamuro Local Government Area for their contributions towards ensuring a peaceful and orderly election.

Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate in Mopamuro Local Government Area, Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny, expressed gratitude to the people of the local government for their participation and peaceful disposition throughout the exercise.

He commended residents for maintaining peace and order, stressing the importance of unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence in strengthening democratic governance at the grassroots level.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Mopamuro, SP Charles, who oversees security operations in the local government, also praised residents for their exemplary conduct during the election. He commended the level of decorum maintained by voters and observed that there were no reported incidents of electoral thuggery in the local government during the exercise.

The commendations from political stakeholders and security personnel highlighted the importance of peaceful participation, responsible political engagement and cooperation among residents in the successful conduct of local government elections.

The peaceful atmosphere in Mopamuro reflects the significance of collective responsibility in protecting the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that citizens can exercise their constitutional rights without intimidation or violence.

As the electoral process progresses, stakeholders have continued to emphasise the need for peace, unity and respect for democratic principles across Kogi State.
