StreetPay, a digital payment application, has been unveiled to help users discover payment recipients, request payments and manage transactions.
In a statement by the founder, StreetPay, Dr Yemi Ipadeola, said the digital platform, developed in partnership with 9 Payment Service Bank (9PSB), was designed to make everyday payments easier by allowing users to discover recipients without having to request account details.
“At its core, StreetPay is built on a simple idea: paying for goods and services should be as easy as discovering who to pay,” Ipadeola said.
He said the app’s payment discovery feature allows users to find nearby payees, vendors and other intended recipients, offering an alternative to the conventional process of requesting and exchanging account numbers.
According to Ipadeola, the feature can be used when shopping in stores, buying fuel or paying service providers.
He questioned the need to rely on conventional methods of obtaining account details when making payments.
“Why should paying for goods or services always begin with asking for an account number?” he said.
StreetPay also features Post Bill, a tool designed to enable individuals and businesses to send payment requests to others.
Ipadeola said the feature could be used for requests ranging from school-related expenses to payments for goods and services, allowing recipients to review requests before deciding whether to pay.
“The process is designed to put users in control. Receiving a bill does not automatically trigger a payment. Instead, the recipient can review the request, consider the details, and decide whether to approve and proceed with payment,” he said.
Beyond payment services, Ipadeola said the app includes a free Robotic Essay Assessment System that allows users to respond to questions, submit essays for evaluation and receive scores based on their submissions.
He said participants who achieve high scores may also have the opportunity to compete live.
Ipadeola added that the app also features GiveBack, a solution integrated into the platform and associated with the Robotic Essay System hosted by Nigerian actor Prince Jide Kosoko.
