Suspected armed robber shot colleague dead in Delta community
A 31-year-old suspected armed robber, Ugbaudu Williams, has been reportedly shot dead by a member of his gang at Ijomi village, near Oghara town in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The state police command’s spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, while confirming the killing, said the deceased and his accomplice, one Desmond, who is now at large, allegedly robbed unsuspecting members of their community.
Disturbed by the activities of the deceased, the police, through a distress call received from an indigene of the community, raced to the scene.
He added: “The DPO of Oghara Division drafted a patrol team to the scene, and when the suspects sighted the police, they took to their heels.
“The suspects ran into the nearby bush, which was later ‘combed’ by a combined team of police and vigilante teams where one Ugbaudu Williams, called Beleke, a notorious suspect, was found fatally shot on his right hand and was seriously bleeding.
“He confessed that he was shot by one Desmond, his gang member. He was taken to his house for a search where another locally made barrel gun was recovered with two live cartridges. One expanded cartridge was also recovered.”
According Edafe, the deceased was rushed to the general hospital, Oghara for treatment, but he passed on while receiving treatment.
