
• Vigilance group nabs tricycle thief
Some suspected ‘Iceland’ cult members loyal to one General Danger reportedly killed three persons, few hours after the victims were abducted from Egbeh community in Ubie kingdom, Ahoada West local council of Rivers State.
Community sources said the incident happened in the early hours of Monday, adding that the corpses of the victims (two males and a female) were found along the Egbeh and Ebiriba Road.
It was gathered that before the incident, the deceased males reportedly fought with a woman, said to be the mother of General Danger. It was also learnt that the abducted lady was a girlfriend to one of the males.
The woman, said to be the mother of General Danger, has fled the community.The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing to unravel circumstances that led to the killings, with a view to arresting the perpetrators.
MEANWHILE, Chief Security Officer, Nkpolu Oroworukwo community, Diobu, Godstime Ihunwo, said his men arrested a suspected tricycle thief identified as Ade.
He said the tricycle was stolen from the residence of its owner, Kingsley Okorie, on Sunday, and that Okorie, thereafter, reported the theft at the office of the team.
Ihunwo said in the course of a routine patrol and search, they sighted the tricycle hidden at a filling station, at Obaziolu/Ikwerre road, Mile 3 Diobu.
He disclosed that they laid an ambush and apprehended the suspect, who came to pick the tricycle early in the morning. He added that the tricycle and the suspect have been handed over to the Nkpolu Police Division for further investigation.
