Suspected cultists kill two members of vigilante group in Rivers community

Gunmen yesterday shot dead two members of a disbanded vigilante group known as Omudioga Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), near a town hall in Ompova clan in Emohua Local Council of Rivers State.

Gunmen yesterday shot dead two members of a disbanded vigilante group known as Omudioga Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), near a town hall in Ompova clan in Emohua Local Council of Rivers State. 
 
The Guardian gathered that the gunmen suspected to be members of Iceland cult group, numbering about eight, laid ambush for the members of disbanded OSPAC, along a narrow path to the town hall.
 


Community sources disclosed that unsuspecting members of the disbanded OSPAC were shot at several times the moment they were sighted by the gunmen, resulting in their death.
 
A resident said the shooting generated tension in the area and forced people to remain indoors for fear of being caught by stray bullets.

According to him, the incident has been reported to Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters.
   
Contacted, spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident, noting that investigation was ongoing.
 
She assured that the suspects will be apprehended.
