There is palpable tension in Taraba South chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), yesterday, following the expulsion of the Senator-elect for the zone, Jimkuta David, for alleged anti party activities in the just concluded general elections.

The Guardian gathered that 21 out of the 27 council executive members of the party endorsed David’s expulsion, which was contained in a circular signed and made available to journalists in the state by the APC Chairman of Takum Council, Sirajo Sallau.

The expulsion, according to Sallau, came on the heels of report of the disciplinary committee, which was set up by the party to investigate allegations against the Senator-elect.

Among offences the Senator-elect was said to have committed, according to APC in the council, are “open and tacit denunciation of APC and its governorship candidate, as well as open canvassing of votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate.

“Sponsoring and openly campaigning for PDP and its governorship candidate.”

The expulsion letter reads in part: “The Takum Council executive committee of our party, after due deliberation of report of the disciplinary committee set up to investigate allegations of gross anti-party activities against Jimkuta David as provided under article 21(B) (i) -(vi) of APC Constitution, as recommended by the disciplinary committee, found David guilty of the allegations.”

In his reaction to the allegatons the Senator-elect, said: “Those who signed the purported expulsion document are not members of the APC, so I don’t care. I don’t even know them.

“As far as I am concerned, I am still a card carrying member of the APC, and I remain the Senator-elect for Taraba South Senatorial District.” He, however, urged his supporters and the party faithful across the state to disregard his purported expulsion.

The embattled senator-elect, The Guardian gathered, defeated the incumbent state governor, Darius Ishaku, in the just concluded senatorial election.
