The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola; the Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, Dr. Segun Obayendo; and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, have confirmed their participation in the 2026 Transportation Summit organised by the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN).

The summit, scheduled for September 24 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, will bring together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, operators, development partners, academics and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving Nigeria’s transportation and logistics sector.

Themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics,” the summit will examine the country’s transportation logistics architecture across road, rail, maritime and aviation, while identifying bottlenecks to seamless cargo and passenger movement and exploring the role of multimodal transport integration in driving economic growth.

Participants are also expected to deliberate on investment opportunities in logistics and supply chains, digital transformation in the sector, infrastructure financing challenges, public-private partnership opportunities and regulatory reforms aimed at improving efficiency and global competitiveness.

TCAN Chairman, Tola Adenubi, said the participation of the minister, the vice president’s adviser and the NRC managing director underscores the Federal Government‘s commitment to stakeholder engagement and reforms in the transportation sector.

According to him, the minister is expected to deliver the keynote address, outlining the Federal Government’s logistics agenda, ongoing reforms, infrastructure investments and policies aimed at strengthening intermodal connectivity, improving logistics efficiency and stimulating economic growth.

Obayendo will speak on the transportation and logistics reforms under the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while Opeifa will present updates on the railway modernisation programme, operational improvements, rail safety, passenger and freight services, and the role of rail transport in national development.

“We are delighted that the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, Dr. Segun Obayendo, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, have accepted our invitation to participate in the 2026 TCAN Summit.

“Their presence will provide participants with first-hand insights into the Federal Government’s vision for the transport sector and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue between policymakers, industry operators and the media,” Adenubi said.

The summit will also feature presentations by government agencies and key stakeholders in the transportation and logistics sectors, alongside networking sessions designed to strengthen collaboration and address challenges affecting road, rail, maritime, aviation and multimodal transportation in Nigeria.

As part of the event, TCAN will honour individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s transport sector through a special recognition programme titled “Champion of Transport Industry Development.”
