Oyo South senatorial candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last Saturday’s National Assembly election, Joseph Tegbe, has vowed to challenge the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sarafadeen Alli, was declared winner of the district by INEC.

In a statement he signed, yesterday, in Ibadan, Tegbe said the result was unacceptable.

He assured that any electoral fraud discovered would be challenged within the ambit of the law.

The Oyo South PDP candidate urged his supporters to remain calm, as he’s studying the results from various units and wards, especially those places where the official reports differ from the field reports.

Tegbe appreciated Oyo South people for the support given to him before and during the election.

His words: “My sincere appreciation to our loyalists, the volunteers, supporters of the Tegbe Movement and the PDP at large for their efforts towards the elections. As good citizens of our country and stakeholders in our senatorial district, you have performed your civic responsibility by coming out to vote, and peacefully too.

“At this moment, I wish to remind everyone that whatever setback from this election is just a minor hurdle we have to cross before the gubernatorial election on March 11, 2023.

“Rather than being discouraged, we should gird our loins and double our determination to support and deliver Governor Seyi Makinde for a second term to keep Oyo on the path of development.”
