The Guardian metro page, editor nominated for human rights awards

The metro page of The Guardian Newspaper and its editor, Bertram Nwannekanma, has been nominated for the 2022 human rights awards by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA).

The metro page of The Guardian Newspaper and its editor, Bertram Nwannekanma, has been nominated for the 2022 human rights awards by Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA).

  
While Nwannekanma is to receive the 2022 Human Rights Best Journalist of the year (print) award, the metro page was nominated Best Human Rights Media page of the year 2022.
 
The awards will be presented to the recipients in Abuja on August 25, 2022.
  
According to a letter signed by the forum’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and its National Media Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf, the occasion will be used to mark the 15th anniversary of the forum.

The rights group also noted that the metro page of The Guardian has become a human rights daily clinic.
 
The letter reads: “With profound joy in our hearts, the over 10,000 members of our esteemed body have asked us to inform you of your nomination to receive the 2022 Human Rights Best journalist of the year Award (Print).

“Our members have also asked that we convey to you the message of the nomination of the metro page of The Guardian Newspaper of Nigeria, as Best Human Rights Media Page of the Year 2022. These awards go with certificates of award. Congratulations.”
