Three persons yesterday were reported killed in an explosion, which occurred in  Okene, near the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, King Ado Ibrahim, in Kogi State.

The Guardian gathered that the incident happened at about 9:00a.m., as residents were expecting the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari, who was billed to commission projects executed by Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration.

This, however, did not stop President, who arrived Lokoja as early as 10:30a.m. to inaugurate the projects.
An eye witness said an electric transformer exploded and affected a parked car, which reportedly killed the three occupants.

The explosion also affected the back gate of the Palace of Ohinoyi of Ebira land, as well as two motorcycles.

Meanwhile, a detachment of fully armed security men have taken over the entire road where the incident happened and prevented movement of vehicles and people from going close to the area.

At press time, spokesperson for Kogi State Police Command, William Ayah, was yet to respond to calls  and text messages sent to his telephone.
