President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will overcome its current security challenges, declaring that Nigeria is firmly on the path to renewed greatness.

The President spoke on Saturday during the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Ogun State, as well as two newly acquired aircraft.

Tinubu said his administration’s investments are centred on the people, reflecting confidence in the country’s future.

“I assure you that we will continue to make progress. Nigeria is determined to be great, and we are firmly on the path to achieving that greatness once again,” he said.

He commended individuals and institutions contributing to national development, noting that their efforts would have lasting impact.

“While macroeconomic reforms may be challenging, they are already delivering progress for our country,” Tinubu added.
The President also disclosed that several projects were virtually commissioned alongside the airport, describing the facility as part of a broader development strategy.

“This airport project is integrated with investments in gas and energy, alongside other initiatives designed to impact every level of society,” he said.

“I am particularly pleased with the focus on mobility, security, and agriculture. The introduction of modern transportation solutions reflects a shift toward innovation and improved daily life. Strengthening security infrastructure reinforces our resolve to protect lives and property. We will overcome violence and terrorism.”

Speaking at the event, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, noting that efforts to expand revenue through improved tax administration, digitalisation, and institutional strengthening are addressing longstanding structural challenges.

He said the administration has demonstrated courage in tackling fiscal leakages, promoting local production, and improving the ease of doing business through regulatory reforms.

“This renewed focus on infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships, and investment in agriculture, power, and transportation is laying the foundation for long-term prosperity,” Abiodun said.

He added that Ogun State remains one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing economies.
“Over the past seven years, our internally generated revenue has grown from ₦40 billion to over ₦250 billion annually, while our GDP has increased from ₦4 trillion to ₦17 trillion,” he stated.

Dignitaries at the event included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, alongside traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
