President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the leadership of Flutterwave to discuss strategies for supporting youth empowerment, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) growth, and the expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy.
The meeting follows the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flutterwave, aimed at providing mentorship programs, access to start-up funding, and skills development for young Nigerians. The initiative aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on job creation and economic diversification.
Under the collaboration, SMEs and young entrepreneurs will receive business funding, training, and mentorship through agencies such as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC). The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has also partnered with Flutterwave to improve financial access and digital payment solutions for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Additionally, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has engaged Flutterwave to lead digital transformation initiatives aimed at increasing digital adoption among businesses.
Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting SMEs and youth through technology-driven solutions. President Tinubu emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in driving economic growth and innovation.
