Tinubu hails Smith at 75

The All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, yesterday, congratulated former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, on his 75th birthday anniversary, describing him as a patriot and statesman, who has contributed a lot to the unity and togetherness of the country.

Tinubu, who said he often looked up to the former police boss for guidance and direction, in a statement issued by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, added: “Smith is a statesman and a patriot. He worked relentlessly and sacrificed for the unity and togetherness of this country.

“His dedication and commitment to selfless service engendered his rise to the pinnacle of the police career as inspector general.
“It is no surprise that even in retirement, Smith was again tapped to serve as Chairman of the Police Service Commission.”

As an icon and dependable leader, I relate to him with respect and admiration and often look up to him for guidance and direction. I believe his simplicity, humility, perseverance, industry, integrity, honesty, and modest lifestyle are attributes worthy of emulation by the younger generation.”
