Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has disclosed that no fewer than 2,604 road projects were inherited by the President Bola Tinubu administration.

Umahi revealed that the road projects were worth trillions of naira and fumed at contractors that abandoned projects, warning that the Federal Government would not hesitate to revoke their contracts.

He spoke in Akure, Ondo State capital, during the Federal Ministry of Works town hall meeting on the alignment of the Ondo State 63 kilometres segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

The minister stressed that when completed, the road, which would pass through seven states, would open up new businesses.

In his remarks, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who hailed Tinubu for the legacy projects cited in the state, stressed that the projects were not political.

“He (Tinubu) is supporting us economically. I want to thank you for all the other projects in the country. This project will be of huge benefit to us; that is why we are going to cooperate with the Federal Government and the contractors.”
