President-elect, Bola Tinubu, marked his 71st birthday at the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia, yesterday.

The Guardian reported, on Sunday, that Tinubu was due for a routine medical appointment before departing for the lesser hajj.

“I think he left yesterday (Tuesday) morning,” a source told The Guardian yesterday.

Asked if he went for the appointment in the famous private health district in West London on Monday, the source said: “Yes. He came for his medicals. That is what he has always done. He saw his doctors for treatment.”

Tinubu left Nigeria for France last week and was said to have had “business meetings outside Paris” before going to London on Friday, where he spent the weekend.

MEANWHILE, the president-elect has assured the citizenry that he would live up to his campaign promises.

In a message to Nigerians to mark his 71st birthday, yesterday, he described his victory at the poll as a rare privilege that he would not squander.

He noted: “I will, instead, use this day as an opportunity to reiterate my commitment to the great and important task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the hope of the Nigerian people.

“I campaigned hard and made important promises. Those promises were not mere words professed glibly or cynically to win support; they represent a bond that binds me to the task of creating a better Nigeria for the benefit of every Nigerian, whether you voted for me or not. I have prepared for this moment all my life; I will not fail.”

VICE President Yemi Osinbajo has felicitated with Tinubu, praying God to grant him more wisdom and strength in the years to come.

A statement Osinbajo personally signed reads: “Dolly and I rejoice with you, the family, friends and associates on this occasion of your 71st birthday.”

We thank God for his grace and enablement upon your life that has made possible your many years of service and contributions to Lagos State, our nation and our great party.”

ALSO, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, yesterday, felicitated with Tinubu, praying God to grant him all it takes to make meaningful impact as the leader of the most populous country in Africa.

The felicitation message was contained in the statement by the monarch through his Personal Assistant (Media), Oladele Ogunsola, in which he thanked God for his benevolence on the former governor of Lagos.

EKITI State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has also congratulated Tinubu, praying God to grant him long life, sound health and more wisdom to continue his selfless service to mankind.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor said Tinubu enjoyed immense grace of God in his lifetime and that his birthday offers an opportunity to appreciate his Maker for being alive to witness the occasion.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti, I wish our indefatigable leader and president-elect a happy birthday and pray the good Lord to grant him good health and many prosperous years in undiluted joy,” he stated.
