Tinubu mourns Plateau ex-MILAD, Mohammed Mana

President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the passing of a former Military Administrator of Plateau State and one-time Senator, Colonel Mohammed Mana (rtd), who died in Abuja on Saturday.

Mana, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), represented Adamawa North Senatorial District between 2007 and 2011.

In a tribute, President Tinubu described the late Mana as “a distinguished patriot and officer gentleman who gave so much to his fatherland in and out of uniform.”

He praised Mana’s commitment to the common good and his dedication to building a better society, noting that his wise counsel and leadership would be greatly missed.

The President commiserated with the people and government of Adamawa State, as well as members of the APC family in the state, recalling that Senator Mana had served as Chairman of the party’s Reconciliation Committee until his death.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu also joined the Nigerian media fraternity in mourning the death of Miss Evelyn Osagie, Assistant Editor with The Nation newspaper, who died last Sunday at the age of 49 after a brief illness.

He described her death at such a relatively young age as “sad and heartbreaking,” recalling her as one of The Nation’s most talented, creative, and hardworking correspondents.

Specialising in arts and culture reporting, with a focus on women’s issues, the late Osagie was celebrated for her insightful journalism and her contributions to Nigeria’s literary and cultural scene.

“A consummate poet in both written and spoken forms, with widespread influence and contacts in literary and cultural circles, the late Osagie distinguished herself in every field she traversed,” President Tinubu remarked.

The President prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to grant strength and comfort to her family, colleagues at The Nation, and the wider media community.
