President Bola Tinubu

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu is set to undertake a one-day official visit to Kebbi State on Saturday, where he will commission a number of landmark projects executed by the state government under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris.

During the visit, the President is also scheduled to headline the 61st edition of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival as the Special Guest of Honour, highlighting the Federal Government’s continued support for Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and tourism development.

The Argungu Festival, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most iconic cultural celebrations, attracts thousands of local and international visitors yearly.

The event showcases traditional fishing competitions, music, dance, and displays of indigenous crafts that highlight the cultural identity of the people of Kebbi State.

The festival is traditionally staged along the riverside at the historic Matan Fada area in Argungu, a site recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as part of the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The recognition has further elevated the festival’s global profile and positioned it as a major tourism asset for Nigeria.
