• Welcomes World Bank’s plan to mobilise $5.79b in private financing
President Bola Tinubu has urged local and international investors to explore Nigeria’s $78.5 billion pipeline of 65 bankable projects, as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to attract private capital, expand businesses and create jobs.
The President also welcomed the World Bank Group’s initiative to mobilise up to $5.79 billion in private financing for Nigeria, particularly to support business expansion and investment in agriculture and digital infrastructure.
Tinubu, in a post on his X handle, @officialABAT, on Friday, said the initiatives aligned with his administration’s economic reforms aimed at establishing a stronger foundation for investment and expanding opportunities for Nigerians to earn better livelihoods.
He called on investors to examine the available projects and engage directly with their sponsors through the Projects Nigeria platform, assuring them of the government’s readiness to address obstacles and facilitate the implementation of viable investments.
The President disclosed that Nigeria had assembled a pipeline of 65 bankable projects seeking a combined $78.5 billion in investment, describing the initiative as a further step towards mobilising private capital to support economic development.
However, the President’s statement did not specify the sectors covered by all 65 projects, although he identified agriculture and digital infrastructure as areas targeted by the World Bank Group’s planned private financing.
Tinubu said the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, presented the investment opportunities at the Nigeria Investors Forum, held on the sidelines of the 2026 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok.
“I welcome the World Bank Group’s work to mobilise up to $5.79 billion in private financing for Nigeria. This partnership supports our efforts to help businesses expand and attract investment into agriculture and digital infrastructure,” the President said.
He urged Nigerian and foreign investors to take advantage of the opportunities outlined on the Projects Nigeria platform, stressing that the government would work with project sponsors to resolve challenges that could delay or prevent implementation.
“Our administration will work with you to resolve obstacles and move viable investments into execution, creating jobs and expanding opportunities for our people,” Tinubu said.
The President maintained that the economic reforms undertaken by his administration were intended to create a more solid foundation for investment and enable more Nigerians to improve their livelihoods.
The initiative reflects the Federal Government’s drive to mobilise private-sector financing for development, reduce barriers to investment and encourage the execution of commercially viable projects.
