Tiv Youth Organisation extols IGP Disu

THE Tiv Youth Organisation (TYO) Abuja branch has described the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu as an outstanding officer who has demonstrated zero tolerance for indiscipline and unprofessional conducts throughout his formative years in the Force in both local and international engagements .

The association said IGP Disu’s records of service prepared him for the new responsibility on his shoulders to prevent crime and ensure the integrity of the Police Force expressing confidence in his choice by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deliver on his mandate .

Secretary General ; the TYO maintained that the appointment of the 23rd indigenous IGP was a statement of his rich background in all aspects of policing and patriotism that puts Nigeria first and above all other considerations .

According to the statement: “The Tiv Youth Organisation (TYO), Abuja Chapter, heartily congratulates the newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Ridwan Disu, psc on his well-deserved appointment as the 23rd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Your appointment as the Ag. IGP is a testament to your decades of distinguished and meritorious service in the Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria, having joined the Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992 and rising through the ranks through hard work, professionalism, and dedication to duty. Your wealth of operational, investigative, intelligence, and administrative experience, including serving as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, has undoubtedly prepared you for this critical national assignment.

“Over the years, you have held several strategic positions, including Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command; Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command; Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT); and Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), in Lagos.

“Your leadership of Nigeria’s first Police contingent to the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) further distinguishes and underscores your capacity for international peace support operations and crisis management.”

The organisation continued, “TYO Abuja Chapter notes with pride your outstanding academic credentials and professional affiliations, which reflect your commitment to continuous learning and global best practices in policing.

“We believe that your track record of discipline, courage, and reform-oriented leadership will further strengthen internal security, enhance community policing, and consolidate ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
