TOS cleared to contest Agege LGA chairmanship election

The Agege Local Government chapter of the ruling party has cleared prominent grassroots politician Taiwo Olasunkanmi Taiwo, popularly known as TOS, to contest in its upcoming chairmanship primary election.

Taiwo was one of seven aspirants who successfully scaled the party’s rigorous screening process, which evaluated political experience, public service record, educational background, loyalty to party ideals, and the quality of proposed development plans for Agege.

Known for his deep roots in community service and a track record of mobilising youth and empowering local entrepreneurs, Taiwo’s candidacy is widely regarded as one of the most formidable in the race. His clearance by the screening committee is already generating significant buzz among party faithful and residents alike.

“I’m honoured to be cleared by the party to take this next step. My vision for Agege is rooted in inclusive growth, infrastructure renewal, and youth empowerment. This is not just about politics — it’s about purpose,” Taiwo told journalists shortly after the screening exercise in Lagos yesterday.

The aspirant has long been seen as a unifying figure in the local political landscape. His campaign blueprint, titled “Agege Forward,” reportedly focuses on job creation, improved primary healthcare, digital access for schools, and a reform of local government service delivery.

Sources within the party suggest that his extensive grassroots network, built over years of community engagement, could give him a strong edge in the party’s primary, scheduled for later this month.

“Taiwo represents a new generation of local leadership — one that blends political maturity with developmental urgency,” said a senior party official who requested anonymity.

As the primary election draws closer, Taiwo Olasunkanmi Taiwo is expected to intensify consultations with stakeholders across the 11 wards of Agege LGA, consolidating his appeal as a candidate of both continuity and change.

The final list of cleared aspirants includes six others, but observers say the race is shaping up as a test of Taiwo’s political capital and the resonance of his reform agenda among party delegates.
