The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, has appealed to the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, to include the reconstruction of the Gombe-Potiskum road in the 2025 budget appropriation.
The minister, during a courtesy visit to Umahi, his counterpart in the Federal Ministry of Works, decried the deplorable state of the Gombe-Dukku-Darazo and Gombe-Bajoga-Nafada-Potiskum roads.
He said that the inclusion of the project in the 2025 appropriation will help in no small measure towards boosting the economic well-being of the populace.
He maintained that the roads connect Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Kano, and other states in the Northwest, where major human activities, including farming, animal husbandry, and trading, are being done.
Alkali said the reconstruction of the road would improve the socio-economic status of the affected communities, thereby discouraging rural-urban drift.
Responding, Umahi assured that no stone would be left unturned by his Ministry towards redeeming the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the minister, bringing succour to Nigerians remains the cardinal principle of the present administration.
